Though there’s nothing better than live music in a venue, it’s impossible to do so currently. But that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the fun. As the nation adjusts to the new norm of staying home, many artists are bringing the show home- well, rather, online. Thanks to some of the biggest names in music like Miley Cyrus to the New York Metropolitan Opera, there are lots of things you can tune into from the comfort of your couch. And the best part is: you can stay in your pajamas! Talk about a win-win situation. Hey, in these trying times, you have to stay positive, right?
Sites like Stageit have been live-streaming shows for less-known artists for years now, and now with venues and bars on lockdown across the country, more artists are looking for a new way to do what they do. Miley Cyrus is headlining with Zoe Kravitz, Diplo, Anitta and Ashley Longshore as Bright Minded guests on Instagram Live. Michael Buble is going live with his wife Luisana Lopilato every day at 2 p.m. PST. Bebe Rxha is getting creative in the kitchen live on iHeartRadio’s Instagram at 12 p.s. PST for “Grilling With Bebe Rexha.” Death Cab for Cutie and The Head and the Heart are going “Live from Seattle” here at 8 p.m. EST. Tune in to Billboard’s Facebook page to watch their live at home performers like the Cold War Kids and Gavin Rossdale. And Charli XCX has announced Instagram live streams with special guests such as Tove Lo, Rina Sawayama, Orville Peck, and others.
James Corden is hosting #Homefest at 10:00 p.m. ET featuring performances from Billie Eilish with Finneas, Andrea Bocelli, BTS, David Blaine, Dua Lipa and John Legend. The virtual event on Facebook and Instagram will be raising money for charity. How cool is that? And TikTok will be launching a #HappyAtHome livestream series featuring Megan Thee Stallion, Alicia Keys, Jason Derulo, Troye Sivan, Meghan Trainor, Yungblud, Kelsea Ballerini, Hailee Steinfeld and DJ Khaled. The stream begins every night at 5 p.m. PST/8 p.m. EST. Global Citizen’s #TogetherAtHome series continues with the artists performing via Instagram Live: Goodluck, Falana, Ingrid Andress, Carla Morrison, Elijah Blake, The Lumineers, Barenaked Ladies and Ha*ash. And, our queen and savior Lizzo, has hosted a group meditation on Instagram. She wrote, “A meditation and mantra to promote healing during this global crisis. Use at your own pace. Love you!” All we can say is, thank you to the artists who are continuing their work and helping us get through this.
