Bringing Back The Parent Trip
Andrew Parker - June 5, 2020

By Shel Silverstein

My dad gave me one dollar bill
'Cause I'm his smartest son,
And I swapped it for two shiny quarters
'Cause two is more than one!

And then I took the quarters
And traded them to Lou
For three dimes -- I guess he didn't know
That three is more than two!

Just then, along came old blind Bates
And just 'cause he can't see
He gave me four nickels for my three dimes,
And four is more than three!

And then I took the nickels to Hiram Coombs
Down at the seed-feed store,
And the fool gave me five pennies for them,
And five is more than four!

And then I went and showed my dad,
And he got red in the cheeks
And closed his eyes and shook his head --
Too proud of me to speak!

Remember The Parent Trap? Of course, you do, because it’s a completely unforgettable movie. So how does a Parent Trap reunion sound to you?  Well, if you were to ask Annie James, it would be excellent.  And if you ask us? Also excellent. The director of the ionic 1998 movie, Nancy Meyers recently took it to Instagram to share an epic throwback picture of herself, together with adorable little Lindsay Lohan, the star of the classic movie that played not one role, but two. Meyers posted the nostalgic and powerful picture with a seriously fascinating caption saying-  “I have some #ParentTrap news to share next week. #ItsGoingToBeFun,”.

And while it surely made fans incredibly excited thinking that it meant there was more to come, she made a point of adding to her caption that there won’t be a sequel, unfortunately. Nonetheless, her caption got everyone’s blood pumping, coming up with all kinds of theories as to what could possibly be up her sleeve, with most people convinced that there’s going to be some sort of Parent Trap reunion! Others are also under the impression that a remake of the movie will be released. Either way – they both sound excellent, although a remake would probably fill our hearts a little more.

Lindsay Lohan herself is believed to be on board with whatever’s in store – and that’s backed up by the fact that she shared an article about Meyer’s mysterious post on her Twitter account. Rumor also has it that Lohan is also really keen on the idea of returning to playing Mean Girls Cady Heron, another one of her most iconic and memorable roles of all time. And while Mean Girls 2 might be a highly far fetched dream, at least we know some kind of Parent Trap treat is right around the corner. But if we could take a vote, we’re in favor of it all.
