We don’t know if you’re aware, but BuzzFeed is a pretty huge hit company. Their side-project, Tasty, is “the largest food network in the world. From viral recipes to cooking tips, an app, a cookware line and more, our mission is to make cooking easy and fun. Since ice cream is pretty much the most fun food, we now sell packaged ice cream with delicious flavors inspired by your favorite recipes.”
This is very exciting news because ice cream is quite possibly the most delicious food group ever. Tasty offers 4 delicious flavors, each is Limited Edition so that means that once they’re gone, they’re really gone for good. Each ice cream is 14 oz. and available in the freezer aisle of your grocery store. Each flavor is available for 3 to 4 months, but they always have new batches of flavors in the works. And the price isn’t too shabby, either. The suggested retail is price for a pint is $4.99, but you have to check out your local grocery store for the special pricing.
If you’re asking yourself if this news can get any better, it actually can. All Tasty products that are gluten-free are clearly marked on the packaging and website. And their uber-popular, super classic Vanilla Galaxy Twist Flavor is Gluten Free! Hooray for gluten-intolerant people! Are you an animal and environmental rights advocate? Then you’ll be really glad to know that Tasty does not source any milk or cream from cows that have been treated with rBST. (rBST is a synthetic hormone given to dairy cows to enhance milk production.)
Tasty even advises how best to serve their ice cream. “To deliver the best flavor and texture, allow your Tasty products to soften at room temperature for approximately 10 minutes, depending on the actual room temperature and the temperature of your freezer. This gives the ice cream a chance to settle a bit.”
And if you’ve ever asked yourself if you can re-freeze ice cream after it’s been thawed, Tasty has the answer. “Tasty Ice Cream products should not be refrozen if thawed. Thawing and refreezing can create large ice crystals and cause undesirable grainy/gritty textures or diminished quality.”
