Cake Artist Uses Icing To Create Stunning “Embroidered” Patterns
Laura Lee - August 14, 2019

Self-professed cake artist and flour child Leslie Vigil is good at what she does. Her edible creations deserve to be photographed and kept in a gallery of delicious pastries. Vigil endeavored to create a new collection called Tapestry Cakes. She used a cool technique in which she used icing as “stitches” to cover cakes with stylized flowers, symmetrical laurel leaf patterns, and little red hearts. The colorful cakes will make you think of Mexican folk dresses. Basically, Vigil has whipped up some deliciously beautiful creations you’re going to appreciate for sure. Bon appétit!

She captioned this one: “Inspired by some of my favorite real life succulents, I created this cement planter filled with ‘black knight’ echeveria, ‘burros tail’ sedum, and ‘red lion’ sempervivum. All in buttercream! Any suggestions for varieties of succulents or cacti I could try? ????????????????”
