Celebrating Kate Moss’ 45th
Marc Gordon - March 2, 2019

Katherine Ann Moss is an English model and businesswoman who took over the industry when she was just 14 years old. Her 31 years in the limelight have been as scandalous as she is beautiful. And now that she just recently celebrated her 45th birthday in January, let’s take a closer look at the real Kate Moss you won’t find in the papers.

Did you know that Kate won’t accept a modeling gig for less than $10,000. Just like other famous supermodels Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell, these stars won’t work for less than it. Not that she needs it, but for some extra cash Kate DJ’s. She took a turn at the turntables in 2012 at a Prada party and since then has been charging a mere $397,000 for just a half hour gig!

Another fact about Kate Moss people don’t know is that she is very shy! She rarely gives interviews.

“When I used to do interviews a long time ago, I used to get very ill just worrying about them before they came out. I just didn’t like it. When I first started out I did press because I wasn’t really aware that they would write something really horrible but when they did, and I was like: ‘Oh no, I don’t want to go back there. I don’t really want to open up myself to that kind of criticism. And I think that a lot of the time you walk in a room [and] they already know what they want to write about you, so it doesn’t matter what you’re like. But sometimes I will do it if I like the person or the project.”

It’s really interesting that in this modern age Kate likes to keep her life private. In an interview, she revealed why she doesn’t do social media. “I’ve never really liked it- that whole thing of ‘look at me!’. For me, the more privacy the better, not telling people where I am and what I’m doing. All that is the opposite of what I want to do.”

Mostly, Kate takes her job as a model very seriously. She told British Vogue in 2017, “As a model I am prepared to stand in a bikini at the end of an ice glacier when it’s minus 30, because that is what the client has booked me to do and that’s the job.” As she continues her thriving career, Kate is celebrated for being a top model in the industry. She has become an icon as well as an enigma. Cheers, Kate!
