Celebrity’s Who Went From Foe To Friend
Laura Lee - August 20, 2019

Hollywood is a stressful place! Celebrities are under constant scrutiny, attempting to maintain a good image while still living their own private life. The following stars, however, seem to turn their stress towards one another. Presented here are the biggest celebrity conflicts in Hollywood history, including a detailed look into if they managed to patch things up.

Solange & Jay Z

In May 2014, shocking security footage, featuring Beyoncé, Solange and Jay-z, was leaked. The video showed Beyoncé’s sister, Solange, yelling and kicking her brother-in-law, Jay Z, in an elevator after the annual Met Gala. Ten days after the incident, the trio released a joint statement which read: “They [Jay and Solange] have both apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”

Madonna & Lady Gaga

Back in 2011, Lady Gaga and Madonna bickered about song similarities. Immediately after the release of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, critics and fans alike noticed similarities to Madonna’s Express Yourself. Madonna was displeased with the Lady Gaga’s hit, calling the song “reductive”. It seems as if the two settled their dispute as Madonna posted a picture of the two hugging after Gaga’s win at the Oscars.

Nicki Minaj & Miley Cyrus

When Miley Cyrus hosted the 2015 VMAs, she was focused on having everything run smoothly. But, unfortunately for Cyrus, Nicki Minaj had much different plans. Before the VMAs, Miley Cyrus interviewed for The New York Times and called out Minaj for her “not so nice” comments about Taylor Swift getting nominated for Video of the Year. As an act of revenge, and to everyone’s surprise, Nicki Minaj confronted Cyrus on live television. As of late the two buried the hatchet as Miley Cyrus posted on her Instagram a post featuring Minaj, to which the latter responded with heart emojis.

Katy Perry & Taylor Swift

When Taylor Swift released her mega hit Bad Blood and confirmed it was about a fellow female singer who are “straight-up enemies”, many fans wondered who the mystery singer was. The mystery was solved when Katy Perry tweeted the day after the interview was published: “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing.” The squabble was reportedly about backup dancers who left Swift’s tour for Perry’s. However, as of May 2018, it appears as if the bad blood is over. Katy Perry sent Swift a literal olive branch congratulating the beginning of her Reputation Stadium Tour.

Joan Rivers & Gwyneth Paltrow

When asked which star gave her a hard time about her jokes on the Fashion Police, Joan Rivers said: “the worst criticism was, ugh, Gwyneth Paltrow. She came and yelled at us but she stood up. She can’t sit down ‘cause she’s got a stick up her rear end’.” Paltrow didn’t remain quiet and when asked about her beauty routine in 2013 by Harper’s Bazaar, she pledged to avoid Botox saying: ”I won’t do Botox again, because I looked crazy. I looked like Joan Rivers.”

Mariah Carey & Jennifer Lopez

In June 5, 1993, Mariah Carey married music executive, Tommy Mottola. The marriage ended badly, with Mariah Carey suffering from Mottola’s controlling nature. For her 2001 album, Glitter, Carey intended to release a song titled Loverboy containing a sample from a song called Firecracker. As an act of revenge, Mottola stole the sample for his new prodigy, Jennifer Lopez, and featured the new addition in the hit I’m Real. Peace between the two, unfortunately, seems far fetched at this point, as Carey “doesn’t know her”.
