Marc Gordon - October 8, 2019

Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey got a new tattoo and in queenly fashion announced the fresh ink on Instagram a few hours beofre the Emmy Awards. Well known for her character Cersei Lannister on the HBO series, Headey posted a closeup photo of her new tattoo on September 22. She wrote in the caption, “@_dr_woo_ You master. Already in the next realm with my scarab.” For those of you who don’t know (we surely didn’t), the scarab is a sacred symbol that is well known for being good luck, according to the McClung Museum.

A scarab is a type of dung beetle and it later grew to represent Kheper, the Egyptian God of the Rising Sun and eternal life. The scarab was the most important amulet in Ancient Egypt. There are approximately 30,000 species of scarab, according to National Geographic and they can be found in locations all over the world.
