Game of Thrones: Unanswered Questions After Season 8, Episode 4
Marc Gordon - May 19, 2019

Game of Thrones has returned for its eighth and final season. Winter has arrived and the great Battle of Winterfell has been fought. But the journey isn’t over yet and there are plenty of questions we have left. Though the Night King is dead, this is Game of Thrones and the show’s creators don’t want you to get too comfortable. Like our favorite villain Ramsay Bolton said, “If you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.”

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Game of Thrones season 8.

What did Daenerys say to Jorah at the funeral pyre?

Among the many Battle of Winterfell’s fallen heroes, Daenerys kissed Jorah Mormont goodbye and whispered something to him. Dany knew of Jorah’s romantic feelings towards her, and what she said was unheard to the audience. It was no doubt a touching farewell to a close advisor and old friend. But we’ll always wonder what he said. The actor, Iain Glen, told Entertainment Weekly that Emilia Clarke made up her own lines and said “something entirely sincere and true to the moment and something that I’ll never forget…it’s something no one will ever know but the two of us. And that’s a memory to hold onto.”

Where did Bronn go after talking to Jaime and Tyrion?

Bronn made a sudden and kind of strange appearance at Winterfell to confront Jaime and Tyrion with his crossbow. Even though we knew it all along, Bronn made it clear that his loyalty was to himself only. Bronn wants a big reward and doesn’t care if it comes from Cersei or the Lannister brothers. They strick a deal that gives Bronn Highgarden if Daenerys beats Cersei as opposed to Cersei’s offer to give him Riverrun if Cersei wins. Bronn left pretty much as suddenly as he came, but where did he go? He’s pretty much just waiting out the Last War to see which castle is his new home. It will be interesting to see what comes of him.

Why did Rhaegal die so easily?

Rhaegal’s shocking death was hard to watch. Euron Greyjoy hit the dragon who was already injured and recovering from wounds he got while fighting the Night King’s ice dragon during the Battle of Winterfell. Regardless, dragons are supposed to be invincible. It just seemed like it was a little too easy and fans are left wondering why.
