Highly Anticipated Movies Coming Out in 2020 That Were Directed By Women
Marc Gordon - January 24, 2020

The Academy Awards caused quite the controversy when they failed to nominate any women in the best director category. What’s even more, this was theĀ second year in a row. Amazing filmmakers like Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women” and Lorene Scafaria “Hustlers.” But we’ve got some good news! 2020 is shaping up to be the year of female directors. Finally!

Fandango took a fan survey and found that four of the most-anticipated movies of the year were made by women. Netflix is also adding some female-directed films to their site, such as “Taylor Swift: Miss Americana” and “Jezebel.”

Numa Perrier’s movie “Jezebel” deals with sisterhood and the cam girl industry. Check it out on Netflix on January 17.

Katie Ellwood and Amber Templemore-Finalyson’s comedy “Troop Zero” is set in rural 1977 Georgia. It follows a misfit girl’s dream of life in outer space. Release date: January 17. Check it out on Amazon Prime.

Lana Wilson’s documentary “Taylor Swift: Miss Americana” follows the pop star’s transformation. It’ll be released on January 31 on Netflix.
