It Couldn't Be Done

By Edgar Guest

Somebody said that it couldn't be done But he with a chuckle replied That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn't be done, and he did it!

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that; At least no one ever has done it;" But he took off his coat and he took off his hat And the first thing we knew he'd begun it. With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, Without any doubting or quiddit, He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done, There are thousands to prophesy failure, There are thousands to point out to you one by one, The dangers that wait to assail you. But just buckle in with a bit of a grin, Just take off your coat and go to it; Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing That "cannot be done," and you'll do it.

Andrew Parker - Feb 12, 2020

Throughout the years, similar to how we grow up, our favorite products have also changed.  Although in most cases they’ve changed for the better,  there is still something so unique and special about the way they were. We simply can’t help ourselves but reminisce about what was, again similar to ourselves – how we love to look back on our childhood. We are all silently hoping to ourselves that the classic versions would be brought back.

Coca-Cola

This 1908 vintage Coca-Cola syrup bottle is one of the very first to have ever come out on the market. Over the years, the bottle, as well as the product itself has changed endless times, and today it’s become what we know it as- the bottle with the red and white label, recognized by 94% of the world’s population.

Betty Crocker

Today, Betty Crocker cake and brownie mixes look a whole lot more modern and come in a wide variety of wacky flavors that would have never even be heard of back in the day.  But if you’re lucky enough to find an old box of one of these classic mixes in your grandmothers’ kitchen cabinet, then you’ve seriously won big.  Nothing quite compares to her traditional mixes.

Nerf Ball

Nerf Balls were originally created by Parker Brothers and were then later bought over by Hasbro. In fact, it’s actually an entire toy brand, rather than one single product. This specific ball, however, was the first of the Nerf Ball collection, and from then on, the history of toys was forever changed for the better.

Kraft Dinner

If you somehow come across this vintage box of Kraft Dinner, be sure to never actually eat it. Not only is it a completely rare and unique product to be kept forever, but it’s also from 1985, meaning it’s expired over 30 years ago.  Although the box we all know today may have more spark to it, there’s something so incredibly special about this classic one.

Coffee-Mate

This is surely not the Coffee Mate we know today. Nowadays, not only does it not come in a glass jar, but it comes with a sleek snap lid to easily pour the perfect amount in your dairy-free cup of java.  But there’s something about this vintage jar that makes us wish it was still around.

Ronald McDonald

Pictured here is the iconic Kurt Cobain, the lead guitarist of Nirvana with the original Ronald McDonald back in 1992.  Since then, our dear friend Ronald who likes to feed us has surely come a long way and has gotten some serious touch-ups in order to keep up with modern society.
