How To Embroider Your Jeans & Denim For Cheap
Laura Lee - March 3, 2018

Who doesn’t love budget shopping, and finding great cheap vintage items?  But then again, who doesn’t love expensive looking clothing? Well, there really is a way to find both. Regardless of what garment you’re trying to spice up, if it’s got your initials, favorite quote of Instagram handle sewn in, it will without a doubt look more luxurious.  And you don’t even have to take it to an expensive shop. Just take some needle and thread and you’re good to go.  We promise it’s super easy.

You’ll need embroidery thread, which comes in every single color imaginable, as well as scissors, a needle and a pen, pencil, or chalk to map out your design.  Once you’ve got your materials, you’ll need to pick your placement.  The most common placements on jeans is down the side seams, on pockets, along the waistband and along the hemline.  You could also do a super cool T-Shirt with a hem over a pocket.

The next step is to pick your stitch, which can either be a straight stitch or a chain stitch.  A straight stitch has an out motion that makes single stitches, similar to dashes, while a chain stitch is a bunch of looped stitches that makes a chain-like effect. Once that’s set, start to pencil in your design.  You can print your design out on water soluble paper, and stitch it directly onto the paper, or you can freestyle in and stitch right onto your clothes.

Now that everything is set, you’re ready to thread your needle through your denim. Tie a knot at the end and get stitching.  Make yourself comfy on the couch and enjoy your newly acquired wardrobe that looks straight from Urban Outfitters.
