Meghan Markle Won’t Wear A Tiara At Her Wedding Unless This One Thing Happens
Laura Lee - January 10, 2018

When we hear royal wedding, the first thing that usually comes to mind is a bright and shiny tiara.  How could there even be a royal ceremony without a diamond crown, right? So Meghan Markle will inevitably be wearing one at her royal wedding. Well, not quite.

As it turns out, Meghan will actually only be wearing a tiara as she walks down the aisle if Queen Elizabeth II decides to lend her one.  The royal bride to be is not qualified simply by default to wear a tiara from the Crown Jewels collection simply because she’s about to marry Prince Harry.  The only people who are apparently entitled to wear a crown from the official collection are the husband or wife of the queen.

But since Markle is going to marry Prince Harry, the queen, if she wishes, can lend her diamond tiara to Meghan for her wedding day. If this were to happen, then the answer is yes, she will be wearing a tiara.  Until the wedding, however, which is set to take place on May 19th, anything can happen.

This is fact is not the first royal wedding with such a situation. Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge had a tiara at her wedding only because the Queen was feeling kind enough to lend her one.  Who knew these ladies didn’t have so much access to the Crown Jewels?

However, since Markle is marrying Prince Harry, the queen can lend her a tiara to wear for her special day. In that case, the princess-to-be will be wearing a crown to her wedding. Markle and Prince Harry will be getting married on May 19 in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England, and I hope she’s dripping in diamonds during the ceremony.
