Nutritionists Say To Eat Pizza Over Cereal For Breakfast

It’s pretty common knowledge nowadays that most breakfast cereals are bad for you. Cereal grains are highly processed and stripped of nutrients, plus loaded with sugar and refined carbohydrates. Virtually everyone from your mom to top-notch nutritionists agrees that added sugar is the single worst ingredient in our modern diet.

We know, it is hard to part with childhood favorite cereals like Cookie Crisp, Apple Jacks, Trix, Cocoa Puffs, Corn Pops, French Toast Crunch…we could keep going, but we’re starting to get very hungry. So, wondering what to grab for breakfast instead? Don’t worry, you aren’t just limited to a green juice or chia pudding. Actually, go get a slice of pizza for breakfast!

It turns out that pizza could be a healthier alternative than some cereal. This mind-blowing news comes from nutritionist Chelsey Amer. She told The Daily Meal, “You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories.” Amer said that the amount of sugar jam-packed in most cereals is not the best way to start your day. “A slice of pizza contains more fat and much less sugar than most cold cereals, so you will not experience a quick sugar crash.” To top it off, pizza even has more protein than a bowl of cereal! More protein in your diet will keep you fuller longer.

Before you start ordering pizza on your delivery app ASAP, remember that pizza is still, well, pizza. It’s delicious cheese-y, greasiness is probably not something to eat every day. Amer was merely pointing out that compared to breakfast cereal, pizza could be a more balanced option.
