Happiness Is Fun

By Pauline Oliver

Happy is as happy does
When all is said and done
Truly being happy
Starts with having fun

Set those happiness endorphins free
To flood your stressed out brain
With lots of happy thoughts
To relax and ease the strain
Eat chocolate
And laugh-a-lot

Chew chilis hot and red
Wear bright colours instead

Keep a dog or a cat
Try yoga on a mat

Feel sunshine warm your being
Seek beauty for the seeing

Classical music wins by miles
Exchanging lots of smiles

That's how to raise your spirit
Lift your body and your mind
This daily dose of happiness
Is a pleasure - you will find.

A nice vacation can do more than provide some much needed time away. Finding the right destination at the right time of year with the right kind of people can drastically improve your well being. If you’re looking for a bit of creative inspiration with a side of nostalgia then grab your passport, these colorful destinations are calling your name!

Procida, Italy

Italy’s third largest city is also its most colorful. If you’re looking for a quiet destination that’s a bit off the beaten path (but still filled with plenty of life and excitement), then Naples is your perfect match.

Bo-Kaap, Cape Town

Known for its brightly colored homes and charming cobblestone streets, Bo-Kaap is one city that beats to a different drum. With a diverse population and very few tourists, experienced travelers will find tons of local scenes to explore.

Chefchaouen, Morocco

Morocco’s “blue city” is hundreds of years old, and filled with good vibes that will have you feeling anything but blue. The brightly colored town is surrounded by breathtaking mountains, making this the ultimate destination for relaxation and adventure.

Havan, Cuba

This nostalgic-ridden city is for serious travelers only. Okay, well not *only*, but if you go to Havana, be prepared to have non-stop fun in one of the most colorful cities in the world. From the buildings to the cars to the people, this city is anything but dull.

Manarola, Italy

The remote town is actually a very popular tourist destination, and the locals are as colorful as the buildings. Fishing and wine-making are the two core industries of Manarola, so it’s safe to assume you’ll be eating and drinking very well during your eclectic stay.

Santorini, Greece

Known for its romantic energy, Santorini is one of the most eclectic cities you can come across. It was recently voted as one of the most beautiful islands in the world, making it a top pick for avid travelers.

Venice, Italy

Venice is one of the oldest cities in the world, known best for its scenic canals in place of paved roads. The city has a long and fascinating history, and the locals are more than happy to educate travelers about their sacred town.

Nassau, The Bahamas

As the most populated city of the Bahamas, Nassau is a top destination for locals and tourists. The best time of year to visit is during the annual Junkanoo festival, which adds even more spectacular colors to this vibrant and eclectic town.

Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

Old San Juan is a district in the capital city of Puerto Rico and remains the countries oldest (and most vibrant) town. Each building has a bold and bright personality of its own, making this an inspiring place for locals and travelers of all kinds.

Guatapé, Colombia

This rural town is best known for its quaint and relaxing atmosphere. Walk down the colorful streets, enjoy a bite to eat at a local cafe, and soak up all the color and inspiration that this beautiful small town has to offer.

Ålesund, Norway

Ålesund is known for its incredible architecture, just one element that makes this stunning city so unique. In the age of Instagram, this town has become a European staple with a booming population.

Tromsø, Norway

This adorable colored town has a pretty tough view to match. It’s surrounded by incredible snow-covered mountains and picturesque scenery that the locals certainly don’t take for granted. If you plan to get away in Tromsø, you definitely won’t be lacking any incredible photos from the journey.

Guanajuato, Mexico

This historic city is known for its color, and also for its quaint and quiet roads. Most of the city is built around narrow alleyways that are too small for many cars to fit through, so you can rest well in the valley and spend some time getting to know the land.

Brighton Beach, Australia

Located in Brighton, Victoria, the area is home to a more affluent population of Aussies. If you enjoy the finer things with a ton of bright inspiration, then Brighton Beach is your perfect destination.

Notting Hill, UK

Known for its affluence and influence, Notting Hill is not a typical tourist destination. Located in West London and just down the street from the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, the town is best known for its artistic and alternative culture in a league all its own.

Clarke Quay, Singapore

Clarke Quay is the heartbeat of Singapore, with its vibrant nightlife and rich culture that is felt throughout the walls of the city. Hop on a riverboat, taste the local delicacies, and relive the history of this incredible city.
