Selena Gomez Designed a Swimsuit With Her Surgery Scar in Mind

After taking some time off, Selena Gomez is slowly making her way back into the public eye. One of her first projects is one that is close to her heart.

Gomez designed a swimsuit for her friend and former assistant’s new swim line, Krahs Swim. Theresa Mingus, who is launching her brand, asked Gomez to create a swimsuit. The result is a three-piece collection that she made specifically to cover her surgery scar from her 2017 kidney transplant.

Gome interviewed Migus about the launch of Krahs Swim in a video to promote the brand. Mingus says the line is “inspired by her love of sharks and includes a lot of motifs to that effect, like trims shaped like shark bites.” Gomez’s own suits are a limited-edition capsule collection called “Selena x Krahs Swim.” The styles include a one-piece, a deep-cut bikini top, and a high-waist bottom with a belt. She explained that she prefers to wear these styles after her surgery.

“I did have a really good time designing,” Gomez said. “It was fun. The design I did, one of them, it was the high-waisted one with the belt. I’ve had a kidney transplant, and I like bathing suits that kind of cover where that’s been and make me feel comfortable.”

Starting on May 2, Krahs Swim is officially open. Gomez took to Instagram to share her excitement for her friend’s launch. “She has shown me how to be a strong and fearless woman. She is beautiful, kind and smart. I saw how capable she was of achieving her dreams. I wanted nothing more than to see her pursue them and soar,” she wrote in the caption.
