Whether you’re a subscriber to Whole Foods or McDonald’s, it doesn’t matter- everyone in 2020 has heard of the word ‘superfood’. Well, get ready because the health world is hyping up and it’s about time you actually figure out all those trendy superfood names people through around.

So let’s start with fermented foods. That means foods that contain microorganisms like bacteria and yeast. According to a nutrition report by Pollock Communications and Today’s Dietitian, fermented foods are the number one superfood trend for 2020. And even if that sounds super weird and scary to you, it actually is something you probably have already eaten: yogurt, pickles, miso, kimchi, and kombucha. These contain natural probiotics (the good kind of bacteria) that can improve digestion and immunity.

Avocado- like music to your ears and dreams to your taste buds. But not only is it delicious, it contains almost 20 essential vitamins and nutrients and is a good source of unsaturated fats, fiber, potassium, vitamin E, and B vitamins. Basically, add avocado to everything. You just can’t go wrong.

And lastly, let’s talk about beets. Simply put, beets are amazing for you! They’re powerful fuel for your body and are worth incorporating into your daily diet. According to Oppenheimer Delvito, vice president of Pollock Communications and dietitian, “There’s so much emerging research on the benefits of beets for exercise and recovery.” The veggie is rich in inflammation-fighting antioxidants and nitrates (things that boost blood flow).
