A ll ’90s kids who used a Windows computer back in the day surely remember the classic and seriously iconic default XP wallpaper. You know, that hill with the most greenest of green grass, with a vibrant blue sky with some clouds?
If you weren’t already aware, it’s actually a real place. A Reddit user actually recently went to check out the site to see that it looks like today. The photo that he shared looks somewhat similar, however it’s now full of vineyards.
The original photos of the wallpaper was taken in 1998 by a man named Charles O’Rear while driving through Sonoma County on the way to meet his future wife. O’Rear then submitted his photo which he named ”Bliss” to Corbis, an image licensing company. Corbis, at the time was owned by Bill Gates, and somehow, it got chosen to be the default wallpaper for Windows XP.
