The Faces of History

Our world is filled with completely fascinating, mind-blowing and innovative things.  But nothing, no technology, no material item, or even historical site can come close to the complexity of man.  Generally, we believe human beings to be rather similar to one another, and to share basic characteristics of human nature. Some people, however, defy all these norms and go above and beyond what we understand to be average. Here are some of the world’s most interesting people, and some seriously shocking facts about them…

Wedding Record Breaker

The stunning actress, businesswoman, and humanitarian, Elizabeth Taylor probably could make it into the Guinness Book of World Records for all of the times she was married. Taylor was married an entire eight times, to seven very lucky men. These men were Conrad ”Nicky” Hilton Jr. of the Hilton Hotels, British actor Michael Wilding, producer Mike Todd, Singer Eddie Fischer,  Republican politician John Warner, construction worker Larry Fortensky, and for the grand finale, she married actor Richard Burton not once, but twice.

It Wasn’t Love At First Sight

After the iconic Amelia Earhart went missing, many of her diary entries were published and turned into a book called ‘Last Flight’. In one of her entries, she describes her experience of her first time seeing an airplane. She was a mere 10 years old and was visiting a state fair in Iowa.  Earhart describes the plane as ”not at all interesting” and even admitted that the fancy hat she had just bought was a lot more impressive. She had no idea what was in store for her.

Never Had A Doubt

O.J Simpson, the American football hero and movie star has become infamous for his extraordinary life, and for the murder case of his wife that has never really been closed.  Many people don’t know that he actually threw a massive party following his release at his Los Angeles mansion. The party was so wild that the L.A.P.D had to come to calm the crowd down.  What’s most shocking, however, is that the party was planned even before the verdict was announced. Simpson was that confident of his acquittal, and never even doubted for a second that he would be found guilty.

Started From The Bottom

Princess Diana, believe it or not, lived a rather simple, normal life before she turned to wealth and royalty. After attending finishing school in Sweden, Diana worked as both a cleaning woman and a babysitter. She then moved onto to becoming a kindergarten teacher in England.  This perhaps explains why she would take her sons, Charles and Harry, on outings that were atypical for royal children, such as visiting homeless shelters and going to McDonald’s, understanding the importance of seeing how the rest of the world lives.

Charles Manson, is known as one of the most notorious killers of all time, responsible for the murder of even people in the late 1960’s.  What he is less known for however is that he was actually an aspiring pop star, and many of his songs were recorded by popular musicians, such as Guns & Roses, the Beach Boys, Redd Kross, and Marilyn Manson.  For many of his songs, he was not given any credit which completely infuriated this killer.
