Out of all the vintage-inspired mechanical keyboards, the Azio Retro Classic sure is not the cheapest out there. However it’s without a doubt the most impressive. With clicky and deep keystrokes, leather or wood paneling and a rechargeable battery, the Retro Classic will seriously please typists that mean business.
For those old souls with money to spend, the Bluetooth-enabled keyboard is available for $220. It supports Windows and Mac, connects to USB and Bluetooth, is rechargeable and has custom mechanical switches.
In it’s design, it offers a punk vibe with its zine frame and walnut wood surface. Retro Classic is bolted onto the main panel, right above the directional keys. And of course just one version of this device wouldn’t be enough, that’s why there’s three Retro Classic models, the Posh, Artisan and the Onyx with have chrome and copper frames, and black or white leather instead of the wood.
The battery promises about a month of battery power between charges, and can be extended to about a year if you dim the key backlighting. The keyboard is surely a dream for die-hard typists, with a deeply satisfying, incredibly loud sound. Your neighbors on the other hand will probably be a little less pleased.
