Blockbuster became a pretty lost cause awhile ago, with most of their locations having closed down several years ago. Their empty buildings look like ghost houses. But there were still a few locations where Blockbuster never gave up.
There were still six locations in Alaska, and one in Oregon. However, this past week was a sad moment for all of us – all of the Blockbusters in Alaska closed down officially. Four had actually closed down earlier this year, and the final two in Alaska also closed down for good.
Fear not though! The one in Oregon has absolutely no intention of closing and is here to stay and continue to bring us all the best classic movies, surviving merely on the nostalgia factor. Even though it’s clearly easier and cheaper to just stream movies online, people are still coming to this location to rent movies.
The very last Blockbuster location to have held out is pretty proud of themselves and excited to still be standing. Older workers absolutely love explaining to the new generation what a floppy disk is.
Although their technology is rather outdated, their movie selection still has new releases all the time in their wide selection of movies.
Hopefully the Oregon location can continue to stay alive, and keep the legend of Blockbuster going.
