What We Learned From Rachel Green
Laura Lee - June 30, 2018

There are endless things we can learn from the legendary show, Friends.  However, it is without a doubt that Rachel Green is the one that can teach us the most about becoming an adult.  You might be thinking that the spoiled daddy’s girl could not possibly know anything about real life, but believe us when we say that Rachel knows all.  Rachel learned the tough way that it’s not easy being a grown up, and from the very start of the first series she picks herself up and makes something of herself.

Here are some of the many things Rachel Green taught us about being an adult…

For one, it does not matter how old you are, and how grown up you may think you are, sometimes, you need your mommy and daddy.  Rachel shows us that even after cutting off all financial ties with her parents, something all we need to make things better is calling our home.  Our parents are the only ones that will really understand our fears of messing up.  Perhaps her mom moving in with her though after giving birth was just a little much.

Rachel also shows us the incredible powers of a new look. Her haircut was the ultimate look of the ’90s, and she proved that change is not that scary after all.  Rachel also showed us that working your way up in life is no easy feat. She was patient and worked hard, and inspired us all to work towards our dreams.

She also showed us that tax really sucks, and that money very clearly does not grow on trees.  One of the most epic Rachel moments is when she realizes that she gets taxed on her first adult pay check.  Rachel teaches us to celebrate even the smallest of victories, such as learning to do her own laundry for the first time.

And as well all known, Rachel can be rather sassy and even kind of mean, which may explain why we all adore her so much.  She shows us that we do not have to like everyone, as she cuts people out of her life who bring her bad vibes after she leaves Barry.

Last, but definitely not least, she shows us that although getting off the plane is difficult, it might also be the best move of your life.  Sometimes putting yourself out there and doing the thing that goes against all logic can be the best possible thing.
