What You Didn’t Know About The Teletubbies
Marc Gordon - January 14, 2018

It was recently revealed that the Teletubbies actually have children now, named the Tiddlytubbies. We were all left completely shocked. But apparently, there’s much, much more about them that will also have our jaws dropped.

You probably didn’t know that the Teletubbies are almost 10 feet tall, right? They always looked rather human size, but they were super tall too. Po, the red Teletubbie is 6 feet tall, while the purple one, Tinky Winky is over 11 feet.  The rabbits on the show were also seriously massive.  Since the Teletubbies were so large, the rabbits had to be also and were played by Flemish Giant rabbits, a special breed that is larger than average.

Another surprising fun fact about them is that they were racially diverse. Who knew?  Their outfits were intended to reflect the race of the actors in the suits.  The green one, Dipsy is played by John Simmit, a black actor. The red one, Po is played by Pui Fan Lee of Chinese descent.  Po would even use Cantonese words here and there in the show. Laa-laa and Tink Winky are both British.

And as mentioned before, the Teletubbies now have babies. What?! A new version of the show has been released entitled Tiddlytubbies and are supposed to be their children, named Mi-Mi, Daa Daa, Baa, Ping, RuRu, Nin, Duggle Dee and Umby Pumby. Great names.

It would only make sense though that they have children by now, since they are 20 years old! This also means that the Sun Baby is also 21. Crazy!  Teletubbies will also hold a large place in our hearts, and that’s why in 2007 Mayor Bloomberg declared March 28th to be Teletubbies Day.
