Andie MacDowell completely took our breathe away with her roles in Four Weddings and a Funeral and Groundhog Day. From there, we assumed we’d be seeing a whole lot more of the star. To our surprise, she actually took a step back from acting instead.
She is not completely out of the spotlight, but she’s definitely appeared much less than we had hoped for. So what happened exactly? She began her acting career in 1984, however her 1989 movie, Sex, Lies and Videotape was the role that gave her a big break. She was nominated for several roles which helped her gain bigger roles in other films.
It seemed as though she was on her way to becoming America’s sweetheart, but somehow she did things slightly different. She continued acting, and even became the ambassador to LÓreal, but her roles as the star have faded out. MacDowell has never really stopped working completely, people just tend to forget about her until they are reminded. As it turns out, she’s really not bothered by it all, and is completely fine with not being the star of the show.
She explains that she wants to keep things personal, and not share everything with the rest of the world. MacDowell reveals that she’s in fact a nerd and an introvert. She went through a painful divorce, and was able to use her personal experience to play the role of a divorced character.
When she’s not acting, she’s at her Montana ranch, where she aims to connect with the wildlife there together with her two daughters. MacDowell also enjoys hiking and staying in shape. Although you probably didn’t notice, she’s currently filming two projects. One in entitled The Beach House, and the other The Last Laugh. She’s still around, don’t worry!
