Happiest Days

By Edward H. Donnelly

I said to the little children,
"You are living your happiest days,"
And their bright eyes opened wider In innocent amaze.
For their happiness was so perfect,
They did not know it then;
"Oh, no," they said, "there'll be happier days
When we are women and men."

I said to the youth and maiden,
"You are living your happiest days,"
And into their sparkling eyes there crept
A dreamy, far-off gaze;
And their hands sought one another,
And their cheeks flushed rosy red;
" Oh, no," they said, " there'll be happier days
For us when we are wed."

I said to the man and woman,
"You are living your happiest days,"
As they laughingly watched together
Their baby's cunning ways.
"These days are days of labor.
They can hardly be our best;
There'll be happier days when the children are grown,
And we have earned our rest."

I said to the aged couple,
"You are living your happiest days,"
Your children do you honor,
You have won success and praise.
" With a peaceful look they answered,
"God is good to us, that's true: But we think there are happier days for us
In the life we're going to."

January marked the start of Girl Scout cookie season. If you’re anything like us, you’re at the point in your life where you don’t personally know a Girl Scout anymore. So where can us nostalgic millenials get our Girl Scout cookie fix? Well, Girl Scouts got your back. Long gone are the days of our youth chasing down Girl Scout troops at the food store. No longer do you have to ration your box of Thin Mints and Samoas/Caramel Delites ever again. Real talk, us common folk are living in 2019 while Girls Scouts be living it up in 2030.

Getting your cookie fix has never been easier. There’s now a Girl Scout Cookie Finder app you can download on your phone. You can’t order a box of cookies directly from the app. You can choose to “Meet the Cookies” to get reacquainted with all your old favorites and then enter your location to find out where you can buy them near you. For those of you who prefer to not download the app you can simply use the “Find Cookies!” tool on their website. It works in the same way: enter your zip code, and bam, success!

There is a third way to order Girl Scout cookies online, but it requires knowing an actual Girl Scout. Basically, you use a Digital Order Card, wait for a troop member to initiate the sale online. She will either order your cookies herself on the app or send you an email with a link to her personal sale site. You have the option to get it delivered in-person from the Girl Scout herself or via regular shipment.

Don’t mind us, we’ll just be here stocking up on Thin Mints.
