Everyone has something that they’re scared of. Whether it’s a fear of heights, spiders, or doctor’s offices, they are all completely normal and legitimate. When we know our fears, we tend to stay away from them. But every once in a while, we get hit with a surprise that makes our heart skip a beat and sends shivers down our spines. I mean, we can’t avoid all the scary stuff forever. We found some of the most oddly creepy photos that are sure to give you a goosebump or two, we just had to share them. Some of them aren’t even that scary when you fully grasp the image, but nonetheless, we are sure that you’ll be creeped out.
Nemo 33: the world’s deepest indoor swimming pool
We’re holding our breath just by looking at this thing. Ooh, our fear of deep water is kicking in right about now and giving us all kinds of creepy. This deepwater pool in Brussels is 33 meters deep, that’s about 108 feet to give you some perspective. If you have mediocre swimming skills and a fear of water, this is not the activity for you.
Something weird is happening in this chicken spiral
These chickens look like they’re up to no good, and we’re scared to know what exactly that is. It seems like their spiral formation could be a cult of sorts. Maybe they’re summoning the chicken god. But who knows. We’ve never seen anything like this before, and we’re praying it’s nothing more than just chickens being good old chickens.
You aren’t in a bad dream: This is a whale below a boat in the pacific ocean
This is giving us all the creeps for so many reasonsOk, from our perspective, this is the scariest thing to ever happen in an ocean. But we hope that the people in this boat have no idea what is going on underneath them because they would immediately freak out. If that whale has to come up for air, this boat is toast.
guarana fruit: The eyeball plant that stares at you
This plant is making us very uncomfy for so many reasons, but mainly because of the number of eyeballs staring back at us. We can only imagine the type of pranks that can be made by using this plant. It really looks like this plant is watching us. It’s actually a plant used for its caffeine content. No wonder the eyes of this plant are so wide and alert.
“I went to the kitchen to get a late-night snack and found my cats like this”
You walk into your kitchen and see this. What do you do? We’d probably scream from the sheer shock and surprise and the horrific look in their eyes. Then we’d probably laugh once we realize it’s nothing to be scared of because it’s only our pet cats. These cats are acting like we’ve interrupted some important cat meeting. Nonetheless, this scared the heck out of us before we realized what was going on here.
The harpy eagle looks like it’s looking directly into your soul
Why is this the most terrifying bird we’ve ever seen? The way he is looking directly into the camera lens is utterly scary. Does he know something we don’t know, is he upset that his picture was taken. We may never know. The harpy eagle is the He happens to be the largest eagle in the world, so you bet we won’t be bothering him or getting in his way.

Ladybugs are generally pretty cute critters. As kids, we would play with them and examine their colors and dots. But this ladybug is not like the ones we played with back in the day. This ladybug covered in the morning dew is oddly creepy. At first, you might not even be sure what exactly you’re looking at, but what’s certain is that this bug is one of the creepier ones we’ve seen.
This cabbage field looks like alien eggs waiting to hatch
What exactly are we looking at here? Did you know this is how cabbage grew because we for sure were out of the cabbage loop. Who knew that growing vegetables could be weirdly strange and chilling? If we didn’t know any better, we’d assume aliens were ready to hatch out of these things. If we drove by this field of veggies, our hearts would definitely skip a beat for a second.
“I bought this crystal quartz and thought there were tiny spiders inside”
Ok, what exactly is this wizardry? This photo sent shivers down our spines the minute we saw it. But thankfully, these small black dots are actually not tiny spiders. Phew, we can breathe again. This crystal has Mannardite phantoms inside, which gives it its black spots. But without knowing that, we would have assumed that this crystal was cursed. We don’t want any bad Juju.

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing. There is nothing quite like bringing new life into the world. But pregnancy can also be scary with lots of changes and weird experiences. As if pregnancy isn’t weird enough, this is what the insides of a dog look like while pregnant with puppies. So now we get to see the whole process going on this dog’s tummy. It’s creepy, yet hard to look away.

Imagine driving home from work and you look up to see the bird invasion of your worst nightmares. These birds are blanketing most of the sky, it’s almost hard to see anything but birds. This is pretty terrifying, and we would not want to be stuck on this road, that’s for sure. The only person who might benefit from this is the car wash owner of this town.
This beluga whale looks scarily similar to a mermaid
Well, now we can’t unsee this. Once you thought you’ve seen all the creepy crawly things hidden underneath the ocean, you are yet again mistaken. Beluga whales are actually pretty cute sea animals, but this view from below makes it look like a mermaid we most certainly do not want to meet. This beluga’s legs look like they’re stuck in their own tail. Just no thank you.
Maybe don’t count your sheep at night: This herd of sheep look awfully terrifying
Can we look away? We can’t even process what’s happening in this photo right now. We are actually scared for the person who took this knowing they were being stared down by a bunch of sheep. We have so many questions. Are they forming a cult? Planning their escape from the farm? What is their plan and why are sheep so much scarier at night?

If you initially thought these were marking of visited U.S. states, you are sadly wrong. The overlap of these maps is so eerie and disturbing, we’re shocked, to say the least. The match-up of these two U.S. maps is almost perfect. This is a Netflix documentary waiting to happen and you bet we’d be all over it.

You couldn’t pay us to go camping, let alone sleep in that tent. These spiders have completely taken over and it’s only a matter of time until the whole tent is covered in these daddy-longlegs. At least the spiders aren’t in the tent? Either way, equally gross. If these campers have another night of camping, good luck sleeping.
Summoning of the frogs: After rainfall, these frogs are all eerily Facing the same direction
Ok, what on earth is going on here? Was there a frog meeting we didn’t know about? What’s so creepy is that they are so in union and all facing the same direction. It’s like they know something we don’t know, praying to some unknown frog god, or getting ready to invade. Whatever is happening here, we want no part in it.
A bad illusion: These white figures are actually beach umbrellas
Picture this. You go for a nice stroll on the beach and you run into this nightmare. Ok, we would also freak the heck out if we saw these figures coming towards us while chilling on the beach. But after closer examination, these are in fact closed white beach umbrellas and not Klan members. You can breathe a sigh of relief.

If you walked into your apartment and saw this, what would be your first reaction? We would probably panic and maybe for a second believe monsters are in fact real. But there’s actually a potato hiding under there which decided to grow roots. It was almost like this potatoes way of telling its buyer to just use it already.

Absolutely not. Just no. If this ice ghost is this freaky in daylight, imagine seeing this thing at night under distant lights. Anyone coming across this would take a double-take, maybe fall over in disbelief and run as far away as possible until realizing it’s just ice. How can ice even do that? This ice ghost is giving us major chills.

There is just something about hallways that make them utterly creepy. After seeing this photo, you may think it’s from a horror movie set. But this is an actual hallway someone has to walk down at work. It’s cramped, it’s dark, and looks like the longest walk out of there. If it was us, we would be running out of work every day if we had to walk down this hallway.
eerie King of the clouds: The result of a volcanic eruption
It’s not every day that you see something like this. The volcano god has arrived in full force and looks like he’s ready to take over this city. This is so frightening, we don’t know what to do with ourselves. It was actually formed from a volcano eruption in Chile, so we know they’re only clouds, but this scarily resembles a man in the sky.
This spooky barreleye fish has a transparent head
Just when you think you’ve seen everything nature has to offer, you get hit with this fish. The barreleye fish is actually nicknamed the ‘spook fish’ and for good reason. Their transparent heads allow their eyes to collect more light, but they struggle with tunnel vision. This fish doesn’t even look real. We’re pretty spooked out by this one.

How can running a simple errand turn so scary? Imagine pulling up to this parking lot and seeing this. You just know these birds are up to no good, whatever it is. We would drive out of there as fast as we can. We’re sure this girl’s mom was not happy to find ut her daughter did not buy any groceries last. I mean, can you blame her? These birds are the definition of bad vibes.
“I was about to put on my glove but luckily stopped myself when I saw these spiders inside”
Ew, just gross. This should be your reminder to always check your gloves before putting them on. I guess you never know what can be lurking inside. Apparently, in this case, there are tiny spiders that have seemed to multiply in this glove. What was once a cozy spot for your hand is now home to these critters. Time to buy some new gloves, I’m afraid.
This playground on top of a roof is a parent’s worst nightmare
How did this even happen? This is a disaster just waiting to happen. We really hope this is an abandoned building or perhaps just for decoration. The utter fear and shock of seeing this playground can make anyone’s heart race. We will stick to playgrounds on the ground. That is after all why they’re called play GROUNDS.
You don’t want to sit in this hot seat of bees
Would you even dare sitting on this bicycle seat? This is a hard no for us. As fun as bike riding can be, these bees have completely ruined it. The danger is unfathomable, we wouldn’t want to take the risk. Just imagine the pain. Ouch.
This is what happens when a lizard sheds its skin
Just like snakes, lizards and other reptiles will shed their skin periodically. This lizard seems to have been able to shed its entire face all in one swoop. Although we know this is a natural process, there is something about his ability to do that that completely grosses us out.

When we get onto an escalator, we don’t really think much about it. Get on, cruise for a bit, and get off. They’re a great invention and save us some time, but this is proof that they can actually be quite dangerous. The next time you’re riding one, be sure you’re wearing proper footwear because you definitely don’t want this happening to you.

What is wrong with the spiders that created this web? Why is it in the shape of a skull? Spiders are creepy enough as they are, but spinning a web that just happens to resemble a skull is another level of creepy. We hope this is just a coincidence and that we aren’t dealing with cursed spiders.
Forbidden fruit: the critter is not a raspberry
There is something beautiful about being able to pick fruit in nature. It’s so fresh and satisfying. But if you ever come across this juicy raspberry, beware. This is not a fruit, but it’s a Rambutanura hunanensis bug that can be found in China. The fact that it actually looks really sweet to eat is kinda creepy.

You come home at night and want to relax with a book perhaps. You sit in your favorite chair and turn on the lamp to give you some light. All of a sudden, you see this enormous spider in the inside of your lamp and start freaking out. That is until you realize it’s actually the creepiest shadow your lamp is making from the inside. It would have been nice to get some warning.
These snapdragon flowers look like skulls when they die
When we think of flowers, we think of bright colors and aromatic scents. When flowers die, nothing creepy usually happens to them and we just throw them out and buy fresh ones. But not these snapdragon flowers. They kind of look like a sad goth band. Who knew flowers could resemble skulls once dried and shriveled up? What we do know is that we definitely don’t want to receive this bouquet of flowers.
The cork-lid trapdoor spider: the poisonous creepy-crawly creature
There is absolutely nothing cute about this spider. Let’s be honest, all kinds of spiders raise the hair on our arms. Even its name, Cork-lid Trapdoor” is creepy. It uses its mouth and legs to dig tunnels in the ground and can give you a very painful bite if provoked. We do not want to be bitten by one of these things, so if you ever see one of these weird-looking things, may be a good idea to walk away.
This haunted oven is trying to tell us something
We aren’t quite sure what’s happening here, but we can tell you we don’t like it one bit. It seems like this oven could be possessed or haunted. Cooking food should be easy. You turn on the oven, put it to the desired temperature, and patiently wait for your food to be ready. But the minute you get this message on your oven, something creepy has got to be going on.
This pomegranate closely resembles the plant from little shop of horrors
This has got to be one of the scariest-looking growing fruits we have ever seen. The skin of this fruit opened revealing its seeds, but unfortunately for us and our sanity, they really look like teeth. It’s giving us very ‘Little Shop of Horror’ vibes and now we can’t unsee it.
Stairway to the unknown: this bathroom has a mysterious staircase
Um, what exactly is going on here? We would never step foot in this bathroom, even if we really had to use the restroom. This is all kinds of wrong. The staircase is just so out of place and makes no sense, it seems like a weird video game that’s about to go wrong. If we have to go to the bathroom, we’re gonna hold it in, thanks.

Monkeys are usually cute little fluffy animals, but this Proboscis monkey is seriously scary looking. Its dramatic features are what makes it really stand out. Not sure if we would want to come in contact with this primate, but we’d rather just leave it alone and let it do its jungle business.
This sock looks really disturbing when turned inside out
Have you ever looked at what your socks look like turned inside out? Well, now we definitely will not be doing that to ourselves. These look like two completely different socks. One side looks like a pristine and happy child, but flip it inside out and you’ll get a frightening child of your nightmares.
“The roof console of my truck fell suddenly and won’t stop staring at me”
Ok, what? For a second, this car part looks eerily similar to a robot. Can you imagine it suddenly falling and coming down to eye level like this? We know it’s only a roof console, but we would jump out of our seats from the sight of this. It even looks like a face with a look of surprise. But we can promise if this happened to us, we’d be more surprised than this thing.

We don’t know what’s going on here but we don’t like it one bit. Imagine walking past this river and seeing this. What would you do? Who knows what else is lurking in the waters below. This image alone is enough to have us running in the other direction. We just have so many questions but we aren’t sure we even want the answers to them.
This spot in the sky: A pixel glitch in the matrix
What would be your first reaction to looking up to the sky and seeing this? Our first reaction would be thinking something is seriously wrong. Why is the whole sky covered in clouds except for this one oddly creepy square? Did the aliens create a gap in the sky for their invasion? We don’t want to know, but we’ll just leave it to nature to figure itself out.
These cyclists shocking legs look horrifically gross
Ok, now this image will be etched in our minds forever. This is what the legs of cyclist Janez Brajkovik’s looked like after a race. This doesn’t even look like a leg, but something out of a scary movie. This just looks painful beyond belief, and the muscle definition is seriously frightening. We hope he took a rest day after this.

Umm, this has got to be one of the strongest turtles of all time if it was able to smash its way through this wall. Turtles for the most part are not scary. They are usually slow and timid, but this turtle doesn’t seem to have a shy bone in its body, which is why it’s giving us the creeps. That’s one powerful turtle if we’ve ever seen one.
This suspicious roof looks scarily like a face
Ok, why is this roof giving us a concerning look? We don’t like that it’s looking at us like that. Was it built like this on purpose? Walking down the street and seeing this roof on a house would make us do a double-take. Imagine the neighbors next door who probably feel constantly watched and ridiculed by this roof.
These water bottles created shadow babies
Now, this is something we did not need to see that will be scaring us for eternity. These water bottles are making shadows that look like the faces of babies and we are freaked out. If you didn’t know that these shadows were the doings of water bottles, it is very possible you’d lose it for a second wondering what on earth is going on. But luckily, these are only shadows and not demon babies.

This is a nope for us. Some people seek thrill, and then there are those that stay as far away from it as possible. If you feel like adding some danger to your life, just go to the Taihang mountains and climb the 300 ft staircase. Be our guest. We will happily sit this one out. We don’t even want to think about what could go wrong by climbing this monster of a staircase.
This spooky red sheet has taken on a ghostly form
Let’s just all agree that this is the creepiest thing to ever witness. A woman was just hanging up a sheet and seems to be completely unaware of the scary shape it has turned into. The wind seems to have perfectly shaped this sheet into a red ghost with a hood and all. We are going to assume this is just a coincidence so we’ll be able to sleep better at night.

To us, this seems creepy, but at the time, these photographs acted as mementos of the deceased. For this reason, photographers tried their hardest to make those photographed looked as alive as possible.

I don’t know about you, but we would seriously have a hard time trying to go to the bathroom if we were looking down into this gaping elevator shaft. Yeah we know, there is secure glass over it, but if you have just the slightest fear of heights, we can’t imagine this being a pleasant bathroom experience. Not sure we would be able to trust it.

Umm, what is going on in these waters? We would be paddling as far away as we could if we saw these lurking in the waters. But these long-armed sea monsters are actually seaweed, so there’s nothing to fear here. Who knew seaweed could grow that large and look so terrifying? Even though it’s just seaweed, it’s still pretty freaky.
“I forgot I left my boots at the back door. when I walked back outside, I nearly fainted”
Wow, finding a lone pair of boots outside your door like that has got to be one of the scariest experiences ever. It was probably so creepy for the owner of these boots to see her shoes, jump in surprise and then only after remember she left them there. There is nothing quite like scaring the heck out of yourself.
The thunderstorm you do not want to drive through
End of the world much? This is not the road you want to be on during this thunderstorm. Or any road if we’re being honest. Seeing this huge lurking storm cloud in the distance would be enough to give us a heart attack. It would also make us perform the fastest U-turn ever made in history because there is no way we’re getting stuck in that.
the gates of hell: this lava looks like bodies falling into a burning hole
Whatever is going on here, we don’t like it. You may think you are looking at bodies falling into a burning pit, but this is actually naturally formed lava. It’s pretty haunting when you look at it. It’s scary how much this lava resembles bodies, it’s almost hard to believe they aren’t. We think we have a pretty good idea of what hell looks like now.
“I Woke up to find my two cats guarding my basement”
If these were our cats. we wouldn’t know how to react other than being completely creeped out. What is going on in that basement that both of these cats decided to guard it? Maybe one tells the truth and the other tells lies. If we were a guest in that home, we can guarantee that we would not go down those stairs. Black cats and a dark staircase are not a good mix.

These sea slugs may appear cute, but they are anything but. These sea slugs are called Nudibranch and they closely resemble jellyfish. They have colorful stingers that actually have poisonous venom inside. Slugs are usually associated with being slimy, but this unique slug’s poisonous feature definitely adds to their creep effect.
Norway sky bridge: if you weren’t scared of heights before, you will be now
Ooh, we will pass on crossing this bridge. The Hardanger Bridge, otherwise known as the Norway Sky Bridge, spans across 4,300 feet. It is the longest suspension bridge in Norway and is surprisingly longer than the Golden Gate Bridge. The long cables, the fog, the height above the ground are a mixture of all our nightmares rolled into one.
“My girlfriend’s hair clip nearly scared me to death”
If we came across this just chilling on the couch edge, we would also jump in fear. But don’t worry, this huge-looking spider is actually just an open hair clip. We are sure he asked his girlfriend to never leave her hair clips on the couch ever again. How could this not give anyone a mini heart attack? Truly terrifying.
This ominous roll cloud looks like the start of the end of the world
Nature can be pretty crazy sometimes, and these clouds make this photo look like a scene out of a bad Fortnite game. These are roll clouds which are tube-shaped clouds formed by an oncoming storm. Moist warm air rises while cold air sinks, which creates this sideways, tornado-looking cloud. Although harmless, these clouds still give us shivers.
beware: sky camping is only for the brave-hearted
We guess there are people out there who willingly put their lives in danger, like those that participate in sky camping. We wouldn’t dare try this. What if the bag that’s holding you starts to rip? What if you’re a sleepwalker? What if it starts pouring? We see so many problems with this, we’re gonna just move on before we get more freaked out.
You don’t want to mess around with this spiky tree
This spiky tree is not messing around and is definitely spooking us out. Have you ever seen anything like this before? It’s called the Silk floss tree, which is an odd name for it because this tree’s bark doesn’t look silky in the least bit. But the tree does grow flimsy pink flowers and the spikes help to prevent animals from eating it. One thing is for sure, we’re not going anywhere near this tree.
“This is My school hallway in the morning before anyone else arrives”
There’s something about empty hallways that will always be creepy. It doesn’t even have to be a school hallway, but it can be a hospital hallway or any kind for that matter. The darkness, the emptiness, the dim lights. We think it would be better to come to school a bit later just to avoid the emptiness of these halls.
This is what the depressing summers in England look like
This is so creepy looking to us. How is it possible that the sun can be shining while the sky looks like the most terrifying storm waiting to happen? In this English town, the sky almost looks black. It seems like an optical illusion, but we just aren’t getting it. I think it would be a good idea to keep England off our summer destination traveler’s wish list.
